Decoding Menopause: The Media's Mixed Messages

Navigating the media landscape around peri/menopause can feel like a rollercoaster ride, but don't worry – making sense of it is possible!

The good news is that perimenopause is getting more attention lately, helping women find information and support. However, the portrayal isn't always balanced:

• The Challenging Side: Media often focuses on difficulties like mood swings and brain fog, making perimenopause seem scary. Workplace challenges and mixed messages about HRT can feel overwhelming.

• The Empowering Side: Some outlets share positive stories of women embracing this new stage and celebrating their strength and wisdom.

What's missing?

Many women feel undereducated about perimenopause, and diverse voices are underrepresented in media. To improve the conversation, we need:

  1. Balanced stories

  2. Early education

  3. Empowering information

  4. Workplace support

Remember, every woman's experience is unique. With the right information and support, this can be a time of growth and empowerment. You've got this!
